SOS Children’s Village International, a private, non-political, non-denominational organization that provides long-term family-based care to children in need has chosen ICDL to give children the opportunity to develop digital skills that can enhance their education and career prospects as well as open doors to the future.
This initiative is a part of their ‘Digital Village’ project which aims at integrating technology into the everyday lives of the children and their families and to develop their digital literacy.
The project was launched initially in two locations - Piliyandala and Nuwara-Eliya in 2019. Thereafter in 2020, It extended to Anuradhapura and Monaragala. The project is set to be rolled out to two more villages in Peraliya and Gandara very soon as a community service venture focusing on the young adult participants to enhance their employability skills through ICDL modules.
Our partner Gateway School of Computing, is leading this project by providing training and skills certification for children and young people at SOS Sri Lanka.
